Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all!
I just thought this would be a better way to get all our news out to you. Many of you read this blog all the time so I didn’t really want to send out a letter with news that you’d already heard so this way, each of our loved ones can read what they want and skip all the info that they already know. Barrett said, “How 21st century of you!” Well, I don’t know about that but I still wanted to send Christmas greetings to everyone even if I didn’t write a traditional letter this year.
Our year has been very busy but we are very happy with the way things stand here in December. After moving to Alabama in July, we have taken a couple of months to get settled in but now that we are, things are going along just great!
Our move was very uneventful and easy, as moves go. Nothing was broken or lost, all of our stuff got here before we left for our vacation for Disney World, and we even had a big garage sale to get rid of all the stuff that wouldn’t fit into our new house.
As I mentioned, we went to Disney World in July for a little vacation and really had a great time. Nobody needed naps or sippy cups and so we got to really see everything we wanted to without worrying about bedtimes and diapers :0)
By the time we got back to Prattville, we only had a week to get ready for the first day of school - Barrett to Air Command & Staff College, Hollyann to 1st grade at Daniel Pratt Elementary and Andrew to PreK at the First Baptist Church. And so we were off and running very quickly after arriving and making friends all over the place! It was definitely hotter than we were accustomed to but we were expecting it so we weren’t shocked to find our sweat glands working overtime!
The fall progressed just as it always does. As the weeks wore on, the days got busier and busier as soccer practices, birthday parties and church functions abounded. But we were happy to be busy so we could just enjoy each day and not think about all those left behind in Colorado.
Before we knew it, it was time for Thanksgiving and Barrett’s parents came to see us. They got to stay for nearly a week and got to see Hollyann get baptized. It was a very special time for our family and we were so happy to be able to share it with them. We did a little touring around Alabama but stayed pretty close to home, showing Bruce & Sandy Prattville, the base and Montgomery. We sure had a good time with them and hope they had a good time as well. The week went too fast for us, that’s for sure!
And now it’s time for Christmas again. It comes around faster every year, doesn’t it? Hollyann and I have our Brownie Girl Scout Christmas party tonight, Andrew’s class party is tomorrow and Hollyann’s is on Thursday. We have more parties this weekend and then it will be next week and time for my parents to fly into Atlanta to see us. We are so excited for them to come! We hope we can keep them busy and that they will remember this Alabama Christmas as one of the best! We are sad to be missing so many of you this year but we are also a little excited about being in our own home and waking up in our own beds on Christmas morning – we’ve never done that before :0)
So what do we know about 2007? Well, it seems that the Lord has a job for us at the Pentagon in Washington DC. Barrett has been interviewed and offered a job at an AF Acquisition office there (more details later) and so it looks like after graduation in June, we’ll be heading north and further east. Of course, it’s not a sure thing until we have orders in hand but for now, it looks pretty promising. We are excited!! We have never lived in the east coast and we know that there are so many great things to see and do in the DC area – we can’t wait to get started. We also hope that it will be a great vacation destination for all of you and you will all come see us. Our doors are always open!
Merry Christmas, Loved Ones!! We miss you all so much but just know that we are all better for having you in our lives. Please write, call or email – we always love to hear from each family that has touched our lives in some way. You can either email our yahoo.com address or just post comments here – we will read them all!
Blessings to you for a Great New Year!!
Barrett, Suzann, Hollyann & Andrew

I got your Christmas card today! Yippee! And I sent yours out today, too. Steve was supposed to go to the USPS today to get them gone so I hope he did!
I love the Christmas letter!
